Nicole Hutton-Lewis
I am a proud Garawa woman, emerging screenwriter and Australian Directors Guild winning director.
My background is in grassroots organising and political campaigning - which is where I found my love of storytelling and filmmaking.
I believe that as a filmmaker you have a unique opportunity to connect with the wider population in a way not many others experience. I love to direct First Nations narrative content – with a unique passion for telling stories for women and girls.

For the past 8 years, I have worked in First Nations Justice and Climate Justice organisations as a campaigner, organiser and content creator. (Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network/Australian Youth Climate Coalition and Getup). In these roles, I have had the opportunity to write, direct, produce and edit short factual films and documentaries with a focus on climate justice, and human rights.
These experiences and my time at AFTRS has allowed me to shape my values and grow in my own understanding of why I love storytelling.
